The city's main zoo situated to the north of Rattanakosin in the Dusit
area is home to a large selection of mammals, reptiles and other
animals. Spread over a large park, there's also a lake to paddle around,
a playground and, naturally, a good selection of local stalls.
Queen Saowapha Institute (Snake Farm)

Tel 02 2520161/4 ext 20 (show at 11am and 2:30 pm) The Centre for developing antidotes to poisonous snake bites,
this research facility is also open to the public. The idea behind this
is to educate visitors about the dangers of poisonous snakes in Thailand
and what to do with the victim of a snake bite. The institute airs an
informative slide show followed by a display of live venom extraction
from some of the deadliest varieties in the Kingdom.
Flora
Chatuchak and Queen Siriket Park
820 Phahonyothin Rd./ BTS Mochit These two parks situated not far from the mayhem of the weekend
market offer some peaceful respite. Chatuchak Park hosts some art
exhibits, including sculptures from regional artists and a collection of
old railway engines and ancient automobiles. The Queen Sirikit Park
nearby offers a pretty botanical garden with lotus ponds.
Lumphini Park
Entrance on Rama IV Rd, Sarasin Rd., Witthayu
Rd. and Ratchadamri Rd. The inner city's largest stretch of green, this public park is
busy as soon as the sun rises, when Bangkok's office workers and
housewives take advantage of the relative cool to practice Tai Chi, do
aerobics or job around the picturesque lakes. In the cool season
(December-February), there are regular classical music performances by
the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra on Sundays-highly atmospheric events.
Other activities include taking a pedal boat out onto the water for a
quick spin.

of different themed rides, an extensive water park and a host of other
activities to keep the young happy for a few hours.
Safariworld

home to an assortment of wild animals including rhinos, giraffes, zebras and
lions. Other favourites include the dolphins, seals and a separate bird park
with a walk-in aviary.
